Mr Resin Weekly #006 — Elegoo Jupiter 2, Bambu X1 EOL y Thingiverse

Big week for resin fans: Elegoo finally launches the Jupiter 2 and drops an unexpected bombshell with multicolor support for the Centauri Carbon. Plus, Bambu Lab retires the X1 and MyMiniFactory acquires Thingiverse. Let's dive in. 🔥

🖨️ Elegoo Jupiter 2 now on sale + surprise: CANVAS multicolor system for Centauri Carbon

Elegoo Jupiter 2 large format 16K resin 3D printer

Elegoo brought a double announcement to RAPID+TCT 2026. The Jupiter 2 — a large-format resin printer featuring 16K resolution, 302×162×300mm build volume, multi-point auto-leveling, and automatic resin management — is finally available to order after teasing since 2025. Designed for jewelry, batch printing, and functional prototyping.

The real surprise was CANVAS, a multicolor system for the Centauri Carbon with smooth color transitions. Expected late April, pricing TBC. With this move, Elegoo joins the multicolor race already entered by Snapmaker with the U1, MOVA with the AtomForm Palette 300, and Bambu Lab with the X2D in recent months.

For us, this is a clear signal: Elegoo is betting hard on ecosystem, not just hardware. Our Elegoo shipment is arriving very soon — in the meantime, Elegoo resins are already in stock. Read the full coverage at 3D Printing Industry →

⚰️ Bambu Lab discontinues the X1, X1 Carbon, and X1E. End of an era

Bambu Lab has made it official: the entire X1 series has reached End of Life. Production has stopped. The timelines are set: firmware updates until May 2027, security patches until May 2029, and spare parts support until March 2031.

The X1 Carbon (launched in 2022) changed consumer FDM printing forever — for the first time, a printer could come out of the box, self-calibrate, and deliver professional results without months of trial and error. Its successor, the X2D we covered in Weekly #005, takes the torch from here.

If you own an X1, don't panic — you have years of support ahead. But if you were thinking about buying one new, the answer is clear: the future is the X2D. Read more at Toolguyd →

📥 MyMiniFactory acquires Thingiverse: a major shake-up in the STL world

Thingiverse acquired by MyMiniFactory

A major shift in the 3D model marketplace: MyMiniFactory has acquired Thingiverse. Two of the biggest STL platforms in the world now sit under the same roof. The big question is what happens to Thingiverse's vast library of free models and how that coexists with the Tribes subscription model that MyMiniFactory has been pushing for years.

For miniature and tabletop makers, the acquisition could accelerate creator monetization (a win) — but may also push content behind paid tiers (not so great). Keep a close eye on the Terms of Service updates over the coming months. Read the full coverage on Spikey Bits →

🪖 Artel W Launches STL Tribe on MyMiniFactory: Warhammer 40K-Compatible Minis, Print-Ready

For everyone who's spent years eyeing Artel W minis with their wallet out, wondering how much international shipping was going to sting: Artel W has gone digital. They've just launched their STL Tribe on MyMiniFactory, complete with a free welcome model and early-bird pricing.

Their designs work perfectly as Warhammer 40K alternatives. If you already have high-definition resins and an Anycubic M5S or similar printer, you can skip the wait, customs headaches, and recurring shipping costs. Read more on Spikey Bits →

🧴 DyeMansion Brings Industrial Post-Processing Down to Workshop Scale

At RAPID+TCT, DyeMansion unveiled the new compact Powershot. The company — known for its high-end industrial systems for cleaning and smoothing SLS/MJF powder-printed parts — is now developing a smaller, more accessible version set to officially launch at Formnext this November.

It's the same trend we saw with the HP MJF 1200 at RAPID: industrial 3D printing is scaling down in both size and price. If your workflow involves SLA parts or miniatures and you're tired of your post-processing setup taking over the bathroom sink, this is worth watching. Until that next generation of machines arrives, a solid wash-and-cure routine with IPA and UV remains the go-to solution for desktop workshops. Read more on 3DPrint.com →

💬 Our Take This Week

The industry is moving on two tracks at once. On one side, Bambu Lab closes a chapter (X1 EOL) and opens a new one (X2D). Elegoo is making a serious push into multicolor with CANVAS while doubling down on large-format resin printing. And MyMiniFactory is tightening its grip on the hobbyist STL market with the Thingiverse acquisition.

The signal is clear: 2026 is the year of ecosystems, not standalone machines. We'll keep doing what we do — stocking resin and consumables so your printer keeps cranking out parts, whatever brand it happens to be. 💪
