🌾 Dirt, mud and sand textures for any scenery

To recreate natural terrains, Diorama FX offers a complete range of muds, sands and earths in different shades and thicknesses. From wet industrial mud to dry desert sand, you can represent any climate or biome.

These pastes dry with realistic volume and texture, do not crack and can be painted over without any issue. Apply them with a spatula or old brush and create roads, trenches or paths with footprints. Combine them with powder pigments to add tonal variations and achieve a more natural effect.

🔗 Complement with Model Color to paint rocks, edges or transitions.

Vallejo Diorama FX 26820 Nieve Snow Texture 26820 - Mr Resin

❄️ Snow effect: easy, fast and realistic

Vallejo's snow effect is simply magical. It comes ready to use, applies like a light paste, and when dry it leaves a bright white finish with a subtle shimmer that mimics fresh snow.

You can apply it directly over the base or on top of other textures. If you want more volume, just add layers. You can also mix it with white or grey paint to simulate dirty ice or melted areas.

Add Weathering Effects such as moisture or mud to provide contrast.

🌊 Water, puddles and waves that look real

With Diorama FX you can simulate water in all its forms. Gels like "Transparent Water" or "Mediterranean Water" let you create everything from shallow puddles to ocean waves.

The gel is self-leveling and can be poured directly onto the scene. You can shape it with a spatula to simulate movement and add foam with white paint or special textures.

Combine it with pigments to adjust tones and add effects of dirt or algae.

✨ Diorama FX: the finishing touch that makes all the difference

Every detail matters when you're looking for realism, and that's where Diorama FX truly shines. With these textures you can transform any simple base into a complete story: footprints that tell a journey, snow that feels cold just by looking at it, or water that seems to move.

If you love making your figures look alive and full of personality, this range will become your new essential ally. Make your work stand out and amaze everyone with sceneries that come to life before their eyes. 🌟

📁 Mr Resin Workshop Tips

  • Print the base first with Vallejo primers for better adhesion.
  • Use stiff brushes or spatulas to apply and model the terrain.
  • You can mix Diorama FX with each other or with acrylic paint to vary the tone.
  • If you apply thick layers, allow each one to dry thoroughly between coats (approx. 24h).
  • The effects can be painted, varnished, or weathered on top once dry.

🎨 Combine Diorama FX with other Vallejo ranges

Although Diorama FX already shines on its own, the result is spectacular when combined with other ranges:

  • Model Color for painting reliefs, rocks and dry textures.
  • Weathering Effects for adding rust, moss or moisture.
  • Xpress Color for quick glazes.
  • Powder Pigments for natural finishes.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about Vallejo Diorama FX

What products does the Diorama FX range include?

  • The Vallejo Diorama FX range covers acrylic textures for recreating terrain (mud of various types, soils and sands in different colors and thicknesses), snow effects, and transparent or tinted water effects, as well as accessories such as foam paste for waves. Overall, it offers everything needed to simulate mud, dust, sand, snow, water, waves and other natural elements in your dioramas.

In what way does Diorama FX differ from Weathering Effects?

  • Although both lines are used in modeling, Diorama FX is designed to build the terrain and base of the scene (adding volume and texture: mud, earth, water, snow). On the other hand, Vallejo Weathering Effects are liquids and more diluted pastes with permanent pigments intended for aging and environmental effects (oil stains, rust, rain effects, mud splashes, etc.) on models and surfaces. In summary: Diorama FX builds the scenery and Weathering Effects adds wear and weathering details. They are complementary and both water-based, so they can be used together without any problem.

How long does a Diorama FX effect take to dry and how does it dry?

  • The drying time depends on the product and the thickness applied. In general, terrain textures (mud, sand, snow) dry to the touch in approximately 1 hour in a thin layer, and in about 12 hours in a thick layer (2-3 mm). For complete and hardened drying, it is recommended to allow 24 hours if the application was very thick. Water effects (transparent resin pours) also dry superficially in 1-2 hours (forming a film), but layers of several millimeters can take 24 hours or more to become completely transparent. It is important not to rush thick layers; patience ensures that the effect turns out clear and without cracks. If you are in a hurry, you can apply gentle heat (warm air dryer) to speed things up a little, but the ideal is to let it dry at room temperature. Once dry, the material becomes solid but somewhat flexible, and no longer dissolves with water.

Is it necessary to mix or dilute these products before using them?

  • No, Diorama FX products come ready to use straight from the jar. You do not need to dilute with water (in fact, adding water could thin the paste too much and prolong drying time). It is only recommended to mix the contents of the jar well with a stick or spatula before use, especially if it has been stored for a long time, to homogenize the texture (some components may settle slightly over time). Then apply it as is. In the case of water gels, pour them directly; do not mix them with water as this can cloud the result. If you wish, you can slightly tint the pastes or gels by adding a few drops of Vallejo acrylic paint while stirring, to customize the color, but it is not mandatory. In general, use it directly and spread it as you like.

On what surfaces can I apply Diorama FX?

  • These textures adhere well to multiple common surfaces in modeling: plastics (polystyrene, resin), polyurethane foam or expanded polystyrene (diorama foam), cardboard, wood, primed metal, etc. If the surface is very smooth or non-porous (for example, hard plastic), it is advisable to first apply a coat of primer or base paint so that the paste grips better. On porous surfaces (foam, wood) you can apply directly, although prior priming also helps prevent the product from being absorbed excessively. Since it contains no solvents, it does not damage delicate materials: for example, you can texture extruded foam without worrying about it melting (unlike products with solvents). Always make sure the surface is dry and clean of dust or grease for an optimal result.
