Vallejo Weathering Effects, on the other hand, are thinner liquids and pastes with permanent pigments designed for weathering and environmental effects (oil stains, rust, rain streaks, mud splashes, etc.) on models and surfaces. In short: Diorama FX builds the scenery, while Weathering Effects adds wear and weather details. They are complementary and both water-based, so they can be used together without any issues.

Drying time depends on the product and the thickness of the application. In general, terrain textures (mud, sand, snow) dry to the touch in ~1 hour in thin layers, and in about 12 hours in thick layers (2–3 mm). For a fully cured, hardened finish, allow 24 hours if the application was very thick. Water effects (poured transparent resin) also skin over superficially in 1–2 hours, but layers several millimeters deep can take 24 hours or more to become fully transparent.
