3DXTech CarbonX PLA+CF: Carbon Fiber PLA for Rigid Prototypes (750 g, 1.75 mm)
CarbonX PLA+CF is the most beginner-friendly filament in the CarbonX lineup. It's a NatureWorks PLA reinforced with carbon fiber that prints without a heated bed or enclosure, with very little odor — making it a great fit for home or office use. Low demands, high payoff: parts come out stiff with a clean surface finish, and the TDS lists a flexural modulus of 6,320 MPa. Available in black, 750 g, 1.75 mm. The only real requirement: a hardened nozzle.
Key specs
- NatureWorks PLA reinforced with carbon fiber.
- Flexural modulus 6,320 MPa and tensile modulus 4,950 MPa (per TDS).
- Prints without a heated bed or enclosure, very low odor.
- Nozzle temp 190–220 °C, bed temp 23–60 °C.
- Hardened steel nozzle, 0.4 mm minimum.
- Compatible with Bambu Lab AMS, per 3DXTech.
Will my printer handle it?
Almost certainly yes. Temperatures are standard PLA range and no enclosure is needed. The only real requirement is the nozzle: 3DXTech strongly recommends hardened steel instead of a soft metal, 0.4 mm minimum. If your printer has a brass nozzle, swap it out first — the carbon fiber will wear it down fast.
What is it good for — and what isn't it?
3DXTech positions this filament for prototypes and functional parts where looks, stiffness, and consistency matter. It works great for enclosures, functional mockups, camera mounts, and drone components. Don't leave it in a hot car or near heat sources: the Tg is 60 °C. If you need higher temperature resistance, check out the ABS+CF or ezPC+CF in technical filaments.

Printing tips
- TDS test specimens were printed at 215 °C, bed at 23 °C, 0.25 mm layer height, and 100% infill.
- Use a layer height of 0.25 mm or greater, as 3DXTech recommends, to prevent fiber clogs at the nozzle.
- If the spool has absorbed moisture, dry it for 4 hours at 65 °C. Any of our filament dryers will do the job.
- Expect a matte, low-gloss surface finish — this is a technical filament, not a standard PLA.

FAQ
What format does it come in?
1.75 mm, 750 g, black. SKU: PLA03CF100750BK00.
Does it need a heated bed?
No. 3DXTech specifies a bed temperature of 23–60 °C and specifically highlights that it prints without a heated bed.
Do I need a hardened steel nozzle?
Yes, 3DXTech strongly recommends one — 0.4 mm minimum.
Do I need an enclosed printer?
No, an enclosure is not required.
Is it compatible with the Bambu AMS?
Yes, 3DXTech lists it as AMS compatible.
What temperatures can it handle?
According to the TDS, it has a Tg of 60 °C and an HDT of 91 °C at 0.45 MPa. For heat-resistant applications, choose a different material.
Does it smell when printing?
Very little, according to 3DXTech — it's designed for home and office use.
Is it brittle?
It is rigid: the TDS lists elongation at break at 2%. Do not use it for parts that need to flex or bend.
