⚡ Elegoo PLA-CF Filament, when strength matters
If you're looking for a filament that prints as easily as PLA but with the rigidity and strength of a technical material, Elegoo's PLA-CF is the answer. No complications, no drama. 🎯
The carbon fiber mixed into it gives your parts rigidity and mechanical strength well above standard PLA, while keeping a light weight and ease of printing that's almost indistinguishable from regular PLA. Functional prototypes, mechanical parts, structural supports, enclosures, drone accessories… if you need the part to hold up and look spectacular too, this filament is for you. 💪
And there's a bonus: the carbon fiber texture conceals layer lines remarkably well. Your parts come out with a matte, uniform, professional finish that looks like it came off an injection molder. No post-processing, no sanding. Straight from the bed to the table. 🔥
✅ What makes Elegoo PLA-CF special
💪 Superior rigidity and strength — Carbon fiber reinforces the PLA matrix, delivering parts that are far more rigid and resistant than conventional PLA. Ideal for functional parts that need to bear loads.
🪶 Light but strong — The best strength-to-weight ratio you'll find in a filament of this range. Perfect for applications where weight matters (drones, RC, wearables).
📐 Excellent dimensional accuracy — Carbon fiber minimizes warping and shrinkage. Parts come out with precise measurements, no deformation or post-printing surprises.
🖤 Spectacular matte finish — The carbon texture hides layer lines and gives a professional look without any sanding or painting. Parts that impress from minute one.
🖨️ Prints like regular PLA — No special profile or unusual settings needed. If you already print PLA, you can print PLA-CF. No clogs, no bubbles, no headaches.
🎨 Compatible with standard resin — You can combine it with regular PLA in multicolor prints to create striking texture and color contrasts.

🖨️ Which 3D printers is it compatible with?
The vast majority of FDM 3D printers on the market: the full Elegoo Neptune and Centauri range, Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, and more. If your 3D printer runs PLA, it can run PLA-CF. ✅
⚠️ Important — Use a hardened steel nozzle. Carbon fiber is abrasive and wears down standard brass nozzles over time. If you're going to print several spools of PLA-CF, a hardened steel nozzle is the investment that will save you trouble down the line. If you're only making a few occasional parts, a brass nozzle will hold up, but keep this in mind for the long term.
🚀 Tips for printing with PLA-CF
🌡️ Extrusion temperature 200–230 °C — The same ranges as standard PLA. Start at 210 °C and adjust according to your 3D printer
🛏️ Bed at 45–60 °C — PEI, glass with adhesive or smooth surface work perfectly
🔩 Hardened steel nozzle — Essential to avoid premature wear from the abrasion of carbon fibers
📏 Standard PLA speed — No need to go slower or make special adjustments. 40–80 mm/s works great
💨 Normal layer fan — Being PLA-based, it benefits from active cooling just like any PLA
🧹 Standard retraction — The same values you use with your regular PLA should work without any issues
❓ Frequently asked questions
How does PLA-CF differ from regular PLA?
PLA-CF contains carbon fibers blended into the PLA matrix. This gives it significantly more rigidity, better mechanical strength, less shrinkage and a matte textured finish that conceals layer lines. In practice, parts are stiffer, better-looking and more dimensionally accurate. The best part: it prints practically the same as standard PLA. 💪
Do I need a special nozzle?
It is highly recommended to use a hardened steel nozzle. Carbon fiber is abrasive and gradually wears down brass nozzles with use. If you're only going to print a single spool occasionally, brass will hold up, but for regular use, hardened steel is essential. Nozzles of 0.4 mm or larger work perfectly. 🔩
Is it harder to print than PLA?
No. That is precisely its strong point. It prints with the same settings, the same temperatures and the same ease as regular PLA. The difference lies in the final result: stiffer, more precise parts with a better finish. 🖨️
Can I paint or post-process it?
Yes, it can be sanded and painted without any issues, although the appeal of PLA-CF is that the matte finish with carbon fiber texture looks so good that most of the time there is no need to touch anything. If you want to paint it, a light primer coat and you're all set. 🎨
What applications is it ideal for?
Functional prototypes, mechanical parts, structural supports, electronics enclosures, drone and RC parts, tools and fixtures, and any part where you need rigidity without sacrificing weight or ease of printing. It also looks spectacular on display pieces thanks to its professional matte finish. 🏗️
Can I mix it with regular PLA in the same print?
Yes. It blends perfectly with Elegoo standard PLA to create multicolor prints with different textures. The contrast between the matte carbon finish and the gloss of regular PLA is very striking. 🔥
