Liqcreate Bio-Med Clear: Rigid Clear Resin with Passed ISO 10993 Biocompatibility Testing
Bio-Med Clear is the rigid, transparent resin Liqcreate developed for precise medical models, functional prototypes, and parts that require stable mechanical performance. What sets it apart is that, when printed and post-processed following Liqcreate's instructions, it passes cytotoxicity, sensitization, and irritation testing under ISO 10993. It works with DLP, LCD/MSLA, and laser printers in the 385–420 nm range and is autoclave compatible.

What Exactly Does Liqcreate Certify?
Liqcreate states that parts printed with Bio-Med Clear — washed and post-cured according to their instructions — pass three tests: cytotoxicity (ISO 10993-5:2009), sensitization (ISO 10993-10:2021), and irritation (ISO 10993-23:2021). No USP class, body contact type, or contact duration is specified, so we don't claim any either. These test results are only valid when you follow the manufacturer's validated workflow: a validated printer with validated parameters, washing, drying, and post-curing exactly as Liqcreate describes. If you are manufacturing a regulated medical device, Liqcreate states explicitly that the user bears full responsibility for the registration and use of that device. End-use responsibility lies with whoever manufactures the part — not the resin manufacturer or the retailer.
Can I Sterilize Printed Parts?
Yes. Liqcreate has validated standard steam sterilization cycles at both 121 °C and 134 °C. ASTM flexural strength drops from 89 MPa to 80 MPa after a 121 °C cycle, and to 75 MPa after 134 °C. With IPA or ethanol disinfectants (5-minute exposure), mechanical properties remain largely unchanged. Note that the HDT is 62 °C at 0.45 MPa, though Liqcreate reports no cracking up to 250 °C.
Which Printers Are Compatible?
Liqcreate provides validated parameters for over 70 machines, including Asiga, NextDent LCD1, Prusa SL1S Speed and Medical One, Raise3D DF2, W2P SolFlex, and a wide range of Anycubic, Elegoo, Phrozen, and Creality printers, as well as the Form 4L with an open license. The Formlabs Form 2 is not compatible. If you'd like to compare options, check out our full range of biocompatible 3D resins and clear 3D resins.

Validated Workflow
- Shake the bottle for 2 minutes, then let it rest for 10 minutes to allow bubbles to dissipate.
- Print with resin and ambient temperature between 20 and 25 °C, using Liqcreate's validated parameters for your printer.
- Remove parts from the build plate and detach supports.
- First wash: 2 minutes in IPA or ethanol in an ultrasonic cleaner.
- Second wash: 2 minutes in fresh IPA or ethanol. Find alcohol and post-processing supplies at alcohol & post-processing.
- Air dry for a minimum of 60 minutes.
- Post-cure for 30 minutes at 60 °C in a Wicked Engineering Curebox or Formlabs Form Cure (1st generation), as specified by Liqcreate.
- If you strain the resin back into the bottle, use clean filters and tools — Liqcreate requires this to prevent contamination and maintain biocompatibility.
- Store the bottle tightly closed between 5 and 30 °C, away from sunlight and heat sources.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bio-Med Clear biocompatible?
Liqcreate describes it as biocompatible because parts post-processed according to their instructions pass ISO 10993-5, -10, and -23 testing. Outside of that validated workflow, no guarantees apply.
What type of contact or duration is it approved for?
Liqcreate does not specify contact type or duration in their documentation. They only publish the three passed test results.
Can I use it to manufacture a medical device?
That decision rests with you as the manufacturer. According to Liqcreate, anyone producing a regulated device bears full responsibility for its registration and use.
Can I wash it with a different solvent?
The validated workflow calls for IPA or ethanol in two 2-minute ultrasonic washes. Any other cleaning agent falls outside the validated process.
Does any curing station work?
Liqcreate validates 30 minutes at 60 °C in a Wicked Engineering Curebox or a 1st-generation Form Cure. If you use a different curing unit, you are outside the validated workflow and would need to validate it yourself.
Is it autoclave-safe?
Yes, at both 121 °C and 134 °C. Flexural strength does decrease slightly, from 89 MPa down to 80 and 75 MPa respectively.
Does it come out fully transparent?
Parts appear transparent straight off the printer, but Liqcreate notes that a matte finish develops after washing and drying. Sanding or coating can restore clarity.
Will it work with my Elegoo or Anycubic printer?
Many Elegoo, Anycubic, Phrozen, and Creality printers have validated parameters available. Check Liqcreate's compatibility list for your specific machine.
