Raise3D Standard Resin for General-Purpose Prototyping on the DF2 (1 kg)
Standard is the resin I'd start with on a DF2. It's easy to print, captures fine detail, and leaves a smooth matte surface that sands and paints without a fight. Available in two colors: White, a neutral tone Raise3D designed with painting in mind, and Black, a deep, uniform black for presentation models, tooling, and short production runs.
Key specs
- Two colors: White (RAL 9010) and Black.
- Smooth matte finish, excellent base for painting.
- Post-cured White: 67 MPa tensile strength and 2844 MPa Young's modulus.
- HDT at 0.45 MPa: 77 °C for White and 66.9 °C for Black.
- Shore 85D hardness on both after post-curing.
- Designed for prototypes, fine-detail parts, props, tooling, and short runs.
- 1 kg cartridge for the DF2's automatic resin feeding system.
White or Black — which one do I need?
If you're painting the part or need detail to read clearly in photos, go White. Raise3D's data sheet shows significantly higher tensile strength (67 vs. 26.5 MPa) and a higher HDT. Black is a color choice: parts that ship as-is in an assembly, presentation housings, or props. The Raise3D data sheet does show slightly better Izod impact for Black (43 vs. 33 J/m).
Does it work on printers other than the DF2?
Raise3D only lists this resin for their DLP ecosystem — the DF2 and the DF2+. It comes in the 1 kg cartridge that works with the automatic resin feeding system on these machines, and the DF2 reads the resin type via RFID and ideaMaker to apply the correct print, wash, and cure profiles. All data sheet testing was done on a DF2. Raise3D publishes no compatibility data for other 405 nm printers, so I'm not going to sell it to you for that purpose.

Workflow
-
Before printing: Raise3D recommends shaking and stirring the cartridge thoroughly, storing it away from UV light, checking that the resin level is sufficient, and filtering out any cured debris during use.
-
Printing: Use the DF2 or DF2+ with the official Raise3D print profile. Test specimens for the datasheet were printed at 50 µm layer height with a 3-second exposure per layer.
-
Washing: Use the DF Wash station with either IPA or TPM — the two compatible solvents. The DF Wash features dual-turbine agitation, twin-fan drying, and automatic draining. The wash profile loads automatically via RFID or can be set manually.
-
Curing: Use the DF Cure, which combines 365, 385, and 405 nm LEDs with hot air up to 120 °C. As a reference, Raise3D cured the test specimens for 30 minutes per side (White) and 15 minutes per side (Black) at room temperature.
-
Safety: Always wear gloves and avoid any skin contact while the resin is in its liquid state.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this resin a good choice for getting started with the DF2?
Yes. Raise3D describes it as their easy-to-print, general-purpose resin — it's the one I'd load into the machine while you're learning the workflow.
Can it be painted?
Yes. The surface finish is matte, and Raise3D specifically markets the White version as a base for painting and other surface finishes.
How does it handle heat?
Well enough for general use. Raise3D rates the HDT at 77 °C (0.45 MPa) for White and 66.9 °C for Black. If you need higher heat resistance, check out the Rigid 3K.
Is it suitable for functional parts?
For simple jigs and short production runs, yes — Raise3D recommends it for exactly that. For parts that need to flex or take impacts, the Tough 2K is a better fit.
Are the datasheet values from Raise3D?
Yes. All figures come from the official Raise3D Technical Data Sheet (TDS), with test specimens printed on a DF2 and post-cured in the DF Cure. Raise3D notes that these are typical reference values — real-world results will vary depending on geometry, print orientation, and process parameters.
What do I use to wash it?
IPA or TPM — the two solvents Raise3D lists as compatible with the DF Wash. Hand washing with IPA also works, but you'll lose the automatic profile functionality.
What format does it come in?
A 1 kg cartridge, the same format used by the DF2's automatic resin feeding system.
How should I store it?
Keep it away from UV light, make sure the cap is tightly closed, and shake it well before each use. These are Raise3D's own storage recommendations from their product page.
