Siraya Tech Tenacious Lava: Black High-Impact Engineering Resin 73D (1 kg)

The short version: Siraya Tech Tenacious Lava is a black engineering resin built for functional parts that take hits and wear — gears, hinges, housings, and load-bearing components. According to its technical datasheet, it combines 73 Shore D hardness with 75% elongation at break, meaning it's tough without being brittle. It offers 46 MPa tensile strength and a heat deflection temperature of 55 °C. Optimized for large-format printers and available in a 1 kg bottle.

Key specs at a glance

  • Type: High-impact tough engineering resin.
  • Hardness: 73 Shore D, with 75% elongation at break.
  • Strength: 45 MPa yield strength, 46 MPa tensile strength at break, and 1,800 MPa Young's modulus.
  • Impact resistance: 65 J/m (notched Izod). Siraya rates it as 50% tougher than standard resins.
  • Temperature: HDT of 55 °C at 0.455 MPa.
  • Large-format ready: Strong layer adhesion and low peel forces.
  • Finish: Deep black with sharp detail.

What is it good for?

Ideal for functional prototypes, load-bearing parts, and enclosures, as well as mechanisms with friction like gears and hinges, where the wear resistance of 73 Shore D makes a real difference. It's the go-to choice when a standard or ABS-like resin isn't enough and your part needs to handle impacts and real-world use.

Hard and tough at the same time

Hard resins tend to be brittle, and tough resins tend to be soft — Tenacious Lava breaks that rule. At 73 Shore D it holds its shape and resists wear, while 75% elongation at break means it flexes before it snaps. That's why Siraya positions it for demanding mechanical applications.

Printing Tips from Siraya

  • Shake the bottle for 2–3 minutes, then let it sit for 10–15 minutes to allow bubbles to dissipate.
  • Print at 25 °C or above. In cold environments, warm the bottle in lukewarm water (not hot) for 10–15 minutes and heat the print area if needed.
  • Lightly sand the build plate to improve adhesion.
  • Pour carefully to avoid introducing bubbles, and let the resin settle for 5–10 minutes before printing. Monitor the first few layers closely.
  • Siraya provides print profiles for Anycubic, Creality, Elegoo, and Phrozen (Chitubox and Lychee).

Washing and Post-Curing

  • Drain the print over the vat for at least 10 minutes — this is a viscous resin.
  • Wash with 90%+ ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA), ideally for 10 minutes in an ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Dry with compressed air or a cool-setting hair dryer. If the surface is still tacky, repeat the wash.
  • Post-cure for 15–20 minutes under 395–405 nm UV light, rotating the print every 5 minutes. Submerging it in water speeds up curing.

A wash and cure station makes both steps much easier. Browse compatible printers in our resin 3D printers collection, and explore more options in our tough resins range.

Frequently Asked Questions – Siraya Tech Tenacious Lava

What is Tenacious Lava used for?
It's designed for high-impact, high-wear functional parts such as gears, hinges, enclosures, and load-bearing components.

Is it flexible or rigid?
It's hard (73 Shore D) but tough: with 75% elongation at break, it flexes and deforms before snapping.

How much heat can it handle?
Its HDT is 55 °C at 0.455 MPa, according to Siraya's official datasheet.

Is it suitable for large-format printers?
Yes. Siraya optimized it for large-format printing, with strong layer adhesion and low peel forces.

What temperature should I print at?
25 °C or above. In cold conditions, warm the bottle in lukewarm water before printing.

How do I wash it?
Use 90%+ ethanol or IPA, preferably in an ultrasonic cleaner for 10 minutes — after draining the print for at least 10 minutes first.

How long does post-curing take?
15–20 minutes under 395–405 nm UV light, rotating the print every 5 minutes.

Does it absorb moisture?
Water absorption over 24 hours is 2%, according to Siraya's datasheet.

Are there print profiles available?
Yes, Siraya publishes profiles for Anycubic, Creality, Elegoo, and Phrozen in Chitubox and Lychee.

How does it compare to an ABS-like resin?
Tenacious Lava offers much higher elongation at break (75%), meaning it absorbs impacts without snapping, and also holds up better against wear and abrasion.
