3DXTech 3DXSTAT ESD-PETG: Static-Dissipative PETG for Sensitive Electronics (750 g or 2 kg, 1.75 mm)

3DXSTAT ESD-PETG is a PETG filament loaded with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) for effective static dissipation. 3DXTech targets a surface resistance of 10⁴ to 10⁹ ohms — making it the go-to choice for trays, fixtures, and holders that come into contact with PCBs and electronic components. It prints like a standard PETG but at slightly higher temperatures, no heated enclosure required. Available in black, 1.75 mm, on 750 g or 2 kg spools.

Key Specs

  • ESD compound with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT).
  • Target surface resistance: 10⁴–10⁹ Ω; TDS specifies 10⁷–10⁹ Ω/sq (ASTM D257).
  • Nozzle temp: 260–280 °C; bed temp: 60–90 °C; no heated enclosure needed.
  • Absorbs three times less moisture than ABS and offers greater ductility, per 3DXTech.
  • Tg of 80 °C and HDT of 75 °C at 0.45 MPa (per TDS).
  • Dry at 65 °C for 4 hours before printing.

Will My Printer Handle It?

Almost certainly. It requires a nozzle capable of 260–280 °C and a bed temperature of 60–90 °C — and 3DXTech confirms no heated enclosure or specialty nozzle is needed. Any printer with an all-metal hotend will run this filament without issues. If your hotend uses a PTFE-lined throat that reaches the nozzle, avoid sustained printing at 280 °C.

What Does ESD Mean and Why Do I Need It?

An ESD material doesn't build up static charge — it slowly bleeds it away before it can arc across a sensitive component. That's why it's used for PCB assembly trays, guides, test fixtures, and electronics transport cases. One important note: the 3DXTech website lists 10⁴–10⁹ Ω as the target range, while the technical datasheet specifies >10⁷–10⁹ Ω/sq. For any critical application, measure your printed part directly.

750 g or 2 kg Spool?

Same material, different quantity. The 750 g spool is compatible with multi-material systems such as the Bambu AMS, Creality CFS, and Anycubic ACE Pro, according to 3DXTech. The 2 kg spool makes more sense if you're running production batches of ESD tooling or fixtures.

Printing Tips

  • The TDS test specimens were printed at 250 °C with a 70 °C bed, 0.25 mm layer height, and 100% infill — a solid starting point even though the recommended range is 260–280 °C.
  • Dry it at 65 °C for 4 hours even if the spool is brand new. Any of our filament dryers can reach that temperature.
  • Do not use acetone or paint the surface if you need to maintain surface conductivity.
  • Measure the resistance on the finished part, especially if you significantly change the print temperature or flow rate.
  • Like all PETG, on smooth PEI a thin layer of adhesive is recommended to prevent the build surface from tearing when removing the print.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes do you carry?
1.75 mm in black, available on 750 g or 2 kg spools. Both SKUs (PTG02ES100750BK00 and PTG02ES102000BK00) are verified on 3dxtech.com.

Is a heated enclosure required?
No. 3DXTech states that an enclosure is not necessary for this material.

Do I need a hardened steel nozzle?
3DXTech does not specify any special nozzle requirements for this filament.

What surface resistance does it achieve?
The product page targets 10⁴–10⁹ Ω, while the TDS reports >10⁷–10⁹ Ω/sq measured per ASTM D257.

Is it suitable for electronics enclosures?
Yes, that's a primary use case: trays, brackets, and fixtures that come into contact with static-sensitive components.

How heat-resistant is it?
About what you'd expect from a PETG: HDT of 75 °C and Tg of 80 °C per the TDS. Keep it away from heat sources.

Does it smell while printing?
3DXTech describes it as very low odor during printing.

Can I use it with the AMS?
The 750 g spool fits in the AMS, according to 3DXTech. For other materials compatible with your printer, check out our full range of 3D printing filaments.
