Which screen does the Reflex 2 series use?
The Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro ship with the Amber Screen Pro. According to HeyGears, it keeps contrast and light transmittance within 10% deviation after 6,000 printing hours (around 12 months at 16 hours a day). It uses a large-molecule liquid crystal layer and dyed polarizers that are more UV-resistant, and withstands 10,000 cycles at 40 kg without damage thanks to reinforced support pillars.
When to replace it
Replace it if the screen is broken, scratched or not projecting properly. To check, HeyGears recommends placing a sheet of white paper on top, going into settings and running Tray Cleaning, which projects an image across the entire surface. If you see dead areas, lines or spots, it's time to inspect it.
How to install it
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power supply.
- Remove the rubber plugs with tweezers or a flat-head screwdriver.
- Loosen the six screws one by one with the T-handle wrench and remove them. Do not use an electric screwdriver.
- Take out the old screen without dropping screws or debris inside.
- Peel off the bottom protective film from the new screen, connect it, put it in place and remove the front film.
- With the paper on top, power on and run Tray Cleaning. If the image looks good, power off and tighten the screws with their washers.
- Refit the plugs and clean the screen with glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth, always wiping in one direction.
Maintenance
Before fitting the vat, make sure there's nothing on the screen. If resin spills, use alcohol on a lint-free cloth and wipe in one direction only. You'll find isopropyl alcohol in alcohol and post-processing.
Which one should you choose?
Each Reflex family has its own screen and they are not interchangeable. For the Reflex RS and RS Turbo (10.3"), choose the Amber screen for Reflex RS; for the Reflex and Reflex Turbo, the Amber screen for Reflex.
Who it's not for
It doesn't fit the Reflex, Reflex Turbo, Reflex RS or RS Turbo, or printers from other brands. If you're not comfortable with a screwdriver, it's best to have someone experienced do it.
