Raise3D ESD Black: Antistatic Resin for Electronic Fixtures and Components (1 kg)

Raise3D ESD is their dissipative resin, offering a stable surface resistivity of 105 to 108 Ω/sq to reduce static buildup and electrostatic discharge. This means less dust attraction, no spark hazards, and reliable protection for sensitive electronics. Mechanically, it holds its own too: Raise3D rates it at 3.0 GPa flexural modulus and 68 MPa tensile strength, putting it in the same stiffness range as engineering thermoplastics like PET or POM.

Key Specs

  • Surface resistivity: 105 to 108 Ω/sq.
  • Flexural modulus 3.0 GPa, tensile strength 68 MPa (post-cured).
  • Flexural strength: 126 MPa.
  • HDT: 76 °C at 0.45 MPa.
  • Black, Shore 85D hardness.
  • Designed for electronic and automotive fixtures, enclosures, component trays, and sensor mounts.
  • 1 kg cartridge for the DF2+ (see compatibility below).

Why Do I Need an ESD-Safe Resin?

If you're printing fixtures for PCB assembly lines, component trays, or enclosures that come into contact with electronics, standard resins build up electrostatic charge — which can damage components or attract dust and contamination. Raise3D targets this material at electronics, automotive, and aerospace applications. One honest caveat: if your customer requires certified ESD compliance, measure the finished parts yourself — the datasheet values are typical figures, not guarantees.

Does It Work With Printers Other Than the DF2?

Raise3D only supports this resin within their DLP ecosystem — specifically the DF2 and DF2+. It comes in the 1 kg cartridge format that feeds into these machines' automatic resin system, and the DF2 platform uses RFID verification alongside ideaMaker to automatically apply the correct print, wash, and cure profiles. All datasheet testing was performed on a DF2. Raise3D publishes no compatibility data for other 405 nm printers, so I won't sell it to you for that purpose. Worth noting: on Raise3D's website, this resin appears in the DF2+ resin list, not the DF2 list — even though the datasheet testing was done on a DF2. If you own a DF2, get in touch before ordering. Workflow

  • Before printing: Raise3D recommends shaking and stirring the cartridge thoroughly, storing it away from UV light, checking that the resin level is sufficient, and filtering out any cured particles during use.
  • Printing: Use the DF2 or DF2+ with the official Raise3D profile. Test specimens for the datasheet were printed at 100 µm layer height with 7 s exposure per layer.
  • Washing: Use the DF Wash station with either IPA or TPM — the two solvents Raise3D lists as compatible. The DF Wash features dual-turbine agitation, twin-fan drying, and automatic drainage. The wash profile loads automatically via RFID or can be entered manually.
  • Curing: Use the DF Cure station, which combines 365, 385, and 405 nm LEDs with hot air up to 120 °C. As a reference, Raise3D cured test specimens for 10 minutes per side at room temperature.
  • Safety: Always wear gloves and avoid any skin contact while the resin is in liquid form.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the surface resistivity?
Raise3D publishes a stable surface resistivity of 105 to 108 Ω/sq.

Is it conductive?
No, it is dissipative. It slowly bleeds off electrical charge rather than conducting it — which is exactly what you need in ESD-sensitive environments.

Is it rigid?
Yes. With a 3.0 GPa modulus and only 6% elongation at break, this resin is not suitable for parts like snap-fits or clips that need to flex.

Is it very viscous?
It is thicker than the rest of the Raise3D resin lineup: 1267 cps at 25 °C per the datasheet. Make sure to shake it thoroughly before printing.

Do the datasheet values come from Raise3D?
Yes. All figures are taken from the official Raise3D TDS (Technical Data Sheet), using specimens printed on a DF2 and post-cured in a DF Cure station. Raise3D notes that these are typical reference values and that real-world results will vary depending on part geometry, print orientation, and process parameters.

What solvent should I use to wash it?
IPA or TPM — the two solvents Raise3D lists as compatible with the DF Wash station. Manual washing with IPA also works, but you will not benefit from the automatic wash profile.

What format does it come in?
It comes in a 1 kg cartridge, the same format used by the DF2's automatic resin feeding system.

How should I store it?
Keep it away from UV light, tightly sealed, and shake it before each use. These are the storage guidelines Raise3D provides on the product page.
