Raise3D High Clear: transparent resin for parts that need to show what's inside (1 kg)

The High Clear is Raise3D's transparent resin for the DF2. Fresh off the printer, it comes out semi-transparent with a slight blue tint. Sand it, polish it, and apply a coat of varnish, and you can get significantly clearer results — so you can decide how far to take the finish based on your part. Raise3D recommends it for optical housings, internal flow channel studies, protective covers, and consumer electronics prototypes.

Key specs

  • Semi-transparent with a slight blue tint straight off the printer.
  • Higher clarity achieved through sanding, polishing, and varnishing.
  • 44 MPa tensile strength and 2092 MPa Young's modulus post-cure.
  • Best Izod impact strength in the Raise3D lineup per their datasheet: 49 J/m.
  • HDT of 51.6 °C at 0.45 MPa.
  • Very short reference cure time: 5 minutes per side in the DF Cure.
  • 1 kg cartridge for the DF2 and DF2+.

How do I get it truly transparent?

Raise3D is straightforward about it: the part comes out semi-transparent, and high clarity requires post-processing — progressive sanding, polishing, and a varnish coat. Don't expect glass-clear results straight off the printer. Flat, smooth walls come out best, and internal channels will be visible even without polishing the inside.

Does it hold up to heat?

Not particularly. Raise3D publishes an HDT of 51.6 °C at 0.45 MPa and 42.1 °C at 1.82 MPa. It works fine for display models, room-temperature fluid flow, and prototypes. If your part will be anywhere near a heat source, this isn't the right resin.

Does it work with printers other than the DF2?

Raise3D only offers it for their DLP ecosystem — the DF2 and the DF2+. It comes in the 1 kg cartridge that feeds into these machines' automatic resin system, and the DF2 reads the resin type via ideaMaker and the platform's RFID to automatically apply the correct print, wash, and cure profiles. All datasheet tests were run on a DF2. Raise3D doesn't publish compatibility with other 405 nm printers, so I won't sell it to you for that purpose. Workflow

  • Before printing: Raise3D recommends shaking and stirring the cartridge thoroughly, storing it away from UV light, checking that the resin level is sufficient, and filtering out any cured debris during use.
  • Printing: Use the DF2 or DF2+ with the Raise3D print profile. Test specimens for the datasheet were printed at 100 µm layer height with 5.5 s exposure per layer.
  • Washing: Use the DF Wash station with either IPA or TPM — the two compatible solvents. The DF Wash features dual-turbine agitation, dual-fan drying, and automatic draining. The profile loads automatically via RFID or can be entered manually.
  • Curing: Use the DF Cure station, which combines 365, 385, and 405 nm LEDs with heated air up to 120 °C. For reference, Raise3D cured their test specimens for 5 minutes per side at room temperature.
  • Post-processing: Sanding, polishing, and varnishing will further improve optical clarity.
  • Safety: Always wear gloves — avoid any skin contact while the resin is in liquid form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it come out clear straight off the printer?
Not completely. Parts come out semi-transparent with a slight blue tint; high optical clarity requires sanding, polishing, and varnishing.

Can it be used for visualizing liquid flow?
Yes — Raise3D specifically recommends it for flow analysis and internal channel applications.

Can I print covers or protective parts with it?
Yes, transparent covers and small mechanical components are among the use cases listed by Raise3D.

Why is the cure time so short?
According to the datasheet, test specimens were cured for just 5 minutes per side in the DF Cure station. This is Raise3D's own figure — significantly shorter than other resins in the lineup — so let the DF Cure run its preset profile and don't extend the time on your own.

Are the values in the table from Raise3D?
Yes. All data comes from the official Raise3D Technical Data Sheet (TDS), using specimens printed on a DF2 and post-cured in the DF Cure. Raise3D notes that these are typical reference values — actual part performance will vary depending on geometry, print orientation, and processing parameters.

What do I wash it with?
IPA or TPM — the two solvents Raise3D lists as compatible with the DF Wash. Manual washing with IPA also works, but you won't benefit from the automatic profile.

What format does it come in?
A 1 kg cartridge, the same format used by the DF2's automatic resin feeding system.

How should I store it?
Keep it away from UV light, tightly sealed, and shake it well before each use — as specified by Raise3D on the product page.
