HeyGears UltraPrint PAWW20: water-washable resin for Reflex printers
PAWW20 is HeyGears' water-washable resin. Parts come out clean after a 2-minute rinse in water, with no isopropyl alcohol or other solvents, and post-curing takes just 5 minutes. It has a low odour, very low viscosity and decent toughness, and it leaves a smooth surface finish. It comes in translucent pink in a 1 kg bottle for HeyGears Reflex printers.
HeyGears positions it for concept prototypes and rapid iterations, from figures to industrial parts, and for anyone who doesn't want to, or can't, work with alcohol at home.
Before you buy: resin for HeyGears Reflex printers (385 and 405 nm)
UltraPrint resins are formulated for the HeyGears Reflex series, and each one has its print profile already tuned in Blueprint, the brand's software. PAWW20 is validated on two types of machine:
-
At 385 nm: Reflex, Reflex Turbo, Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro (385+ nm UV light, according to HeyGears).
-
At 405 nm: Reflex RS and Reflex RS Turbo.
The fact that it works on the Reflex RS doesn't make it a resin for any 405 nm printer. HeyGears doesn't provide profiles for LCD printers from other brands (Elegoo, Anycubic, Phrozen, Creality and similar), nor does it guarantee results on them. What it's for and who it's for
For figures, miniatures, concept prototypes and rapid-iteration parts where what matters is printing, cleaning and reviewing in a short time. Since it doesn't need alcohol, you save on the IPA container, the fumes and the cost of solvent.
HeyGears specifically recommends it for anyone who is sensitive to the smell of alcohol or can't keep it in their workspace: a small flat, a classroom or a shared workshop. Note: water-washable doesn't mean the resin is harmless. Handle it with the same protection as any other resin, and don't pour the wash water down the drain (we explain why below).
Compatibility with HeyGears printers
-
Reflex and Reflex Turbo: compatible
-
Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro: compatible according to HeyGears' compatibility table
-
Reflex RS and Reflex RS Turbo: compatible
-
Pulsing Release Module: no. PAWW20 is not used with the Pulsing Release Module; print it with the standard resin vat
HeyGears notes that compatibility and process packages are being updated; whatever appears in Blueprint Studio for your printer takes precedence. If you're looking for a machine, take a look at the Reflex RS Turbo, the Reflex Turbo or the Reflex 2 Pro.

HeyGears laboratory data, average of tests with a deviation of ±10 %. The 5.9 % water absorption is high compared with the alcohol-washed UltraPrint resins (between 0.9 and 1.8 %): that's the price of being water-washable. In its technical data sheet, HeyGears shows a PAWW20 figure that withstands 24 hours soaking without cracking, but we wouldn't use it for parts that will be wet or in very humid environments.
Accuracy and design minimums
- Tolerance: ±0.08 mm up to 20 mm, ±0.14 mm up to 50 mm and ±0.19 mm up to 100 mm
- Minimum wall: 0.2 mm (0.22 mm unsupported)
- Minimum gap: 0.15 mm; minimum hole and pillar: 0.4 mm
- Unsupported angle: 20°; 0.8 mm overhang
Use and post-processing
Before printing: shake the bottle well and stir the resin in the vat. Slice in Blueprint Studio, selecting PAWW20. If you're not going to print within 3 days, filter the resin and return it to the bottle; don't leave it in the vat for more than 7 days, as it absorbs moisture and starts causing print failures.
Washing: rinse the part with water for 2 minutes. HeyGears recommends a first wash in used water to remove most of the resin and a second in clean water for the details. Its guide also offers an option with 95 % alcohol in the UltraCraft Wash (1 + 1 minutes at 180 rpm), but the whole point of this resin is not needing it. Dry the part thoroughly before curing it.
Wash water doesn't go down the drain. It contains dissolved resin and is a pollutant. HeyGears asks you not to pour it away and to follow local regulations. For its other water-washable resin, PAWW10, it explains how to handle it: let the water evaporate and cure the residue in the sun or in the curing station before disposing of it.
Post-curing: in the UltraCraft Cure, fast mode, no heat and in air: 5 minutes at room temperature. HeyGears recommends sending the job from Blueprint. More options in wash and cure stations.
Drilling and tapping: if you're going to machine the part, do it within the first month after printing, which is the timeframe HeyGears gives.
Safety and handling
According to its safety data sheet, PAWW20 carries the signal word "Warning": it is harmful if swallowed (H302), causes skin and eye irritation (H315, H319), may cause an allergic skin reaction (H317), may cause respiratory irritation (H335) and may cause damage to organs through prolonged exposure (H373).
- Wear gloves and safety glasses even when washing with water, and work in a ventilated area.
- If it gets on your skin, wash with soap and water; if it gets in your eyes, rinse with water and see a doctor.
- Flash point: 104 °C. Not classified as dangerous goods for transport.
- Store it sealed between 15 and 28 °C, away from sunlight and moisture. Shelf life: 18 months.
- Neither the liquid resin nor the wash water should go down the drain.
Which one to choose in the UltraPrint range?
-
PAS10: if you don't mind using alcohol, it offers better accuracy (±0.05 mm), much lower water absorption and three colours.
- PAB10: grey, for miniatures you plan to sand and paint, with 45 J/m impact strength.
-
PAU11: ABS-like, for functional parts that need to withstand impacts and some heat.
-
PAT10: if you want genuine transparency rather than translucent pink.
Who it's not for
- If your printer isn't a HeyGears Reflex.
- If you use the Pulsing Release Module and don't want to go back to the standard vat.
- If your parts will be in contact with water or moisture: it absorbs 5.9 %.
- If you need maximum dimensional accuracy or load-bearing parts: PAS10 or PAU11 are better choices.
Frequently asked questions
Does it really wash with just water?
Yes. HeyGears specifies a 2-minute water rinse to leave the part clean, without isopropyl alcohol.
Can I pour the wash water down the sink?
No. It contains dissolved resin. Let it evaporate, cure the residue and dispose of it according to your local council's regulations.
Does it work with the Pulsing Release Module?
No. HeyGears states that PAWW20 is not used with the Pulsing Release Module. Print it with the standard resin vat.
Can I use it on a 405 nm Elegoo or Anycubic?
We don't recommend it. It works on the Reflex RS, which is 405 nm, but with HeyGears' own profile. The manufacturer doesn't provide profiles or guarantee results on printers from other brands.
Which HeyGears printers does it work on?
On the Reflex, Reflex Turbo, Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro (385 nm) and on the Reflex RS and RS Turbo (405 nm).
How long does it need to cure?
5 minutes at room temperature in the UltraCraft Cure, in fast mode and without heat.
Does it smell strongly?
HeyGears describes it as low-odour. Even so, always work in a ventilated area.
Can it be drilled or tapped?
Yes, during the first month after you print the part, according to HeyGears.
