SHINING 3D EinScan Rigil Lite 32 GB Limited Edition: Standalone 3D Scanner for Large-Scale Projects
The SHINING 3D EinScan Rigil Lite 32 GB Limited Edition is a standalone handheld 3D scanner featuring both blue laser and infrared scanning, with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD — compared to 24 GB and 512 GB on the standard model. According to SHINING 3D, it processes data approximately 25% faster in most use cases.
This is the version built for scanning entire vehicles, large parts, or back-to-back jobs without constantly offloading data. The scanner hardware itself is unchanged: 17 + 17 cross laser lines, 7 parallel lines, VCSEL infrared at up to 16,000,000 points per second, and a 6.4-inch 2K AMOLED display for fully PC-free operation.
What's Different from the Standard Rigil Lite
-
RAM: 32 GB LPDDR5 vs. 24 GB.
-
Storage: 64 GB eMMC + 1 TB SSD vs. 64 GB eMMC + 512 GB SSD.
-
Processing speed: approximately 25% faster in most cases according to SHINING 3D, with the gap widening on larger projects.
-
Everything else is identical: scan head, lighting, cameras, display, batteries, weight, and box contents.
What Can You Use It For?
-
Full vehicle scanning: capture an entire car in infrared, then switch to laser for fine front-end detail — all on the same device.
-
Multi-part projects: split complex objects into multiple scans and merge them directly on the scanner.
-
Heritage and architecture: statues, reliefs, and facade elements with 5 MP color capture, day or night.
-
Reverse engineering for 3D printing: scan, measure on-screen, export STL, then print or bring into CAD.
The Technology, Straight to the Point
The 17 + 17 cross laser lines (2,940,000 points/s) deliver fast coverage and reliable tracking. The 7 parallel lines (1,620,000 points/s) sharpen edges and capture holes. You switch between modes in a second without interrupting the scan, and both work at distances of 170–550 mm. The VCSEL infrared mode covers 160–1,500 mm for large objects and full-body scanning.
In laser mode, the scanner aligns by geometry without markers on feature-rich surfaces — use markers on smooth ones. In infrared mode, you combine geometry, markers, and texture alignment. On-screen you can rewind scans, remove the turntable automatically, edit point clouds and meshes, reduce noise, align coordinate systems, and take measurements. With U-Drive mode, your PC recognizes the scanner as a USB drive.

From Scan to Print
- Calibrate using the calibration board and select laser or infrared mode.
- Scan while monitoring the model live on screen. For large objects, split the project into multiple scans.
- Align, process, and clean up the mesh directly on the scanner.
- Export as STL or 3MF via U-Drive, Wi-Fi, or the SHINING 3D cloud.
- Print on a resin 3D printer with our resins for fine detail, or use filament for larger parts. Prefer to leave it to us? Check out our custom 3D printing service.
Which One Should You Choose? Rigil Lite 32 GB vs. Other Scanners
-
If you mostly scan handheld and medium-sized objects: standard Rigil Lite, identical except for 24 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.
-
If you want cordless freedom and infrared is enough: Einstar Vega, lighter and laser-free.
-
If you always work next to a powerful PC and want laser scanning without markers: Einstar Rockit.
-
If you want both laser and infrared with a PC and don't mind using markers: Einstar 2.
-
If you're just getting started with figures, cosplay, and people, using your phone as the display: Creality Otter Lite.
-
If you scan small tabletop objects without laser: Creality CR-Scan Otter.
-
If you want parallel blue laser via cable for mechanical parts: Creality CR-Scan Raptor.
-
If you need published volumetric accuracy for inspection work: Creality RaptorX.
Browse all options in our 3D scanners collection. My take: the extra RAM makes a real difference when scanning car bodies, furniture, and building facades — for small parts you'll barely notice it, and if you're always working alongside a powerful PC anyway, a tethered scanner like the Rockit will give you more bang for your buck.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Rigil Lite 32 GB worth it?
Yes, if you're planning to 3D scan large objects or multi-part projects. That's where the extra RAM actually shows: SHINING 3D claims up to 25% faster processing in most cases, with bigger gains on larger projects. If you mostly scan small to medium-sized parts, the standard Rigil Lite is more than enough.
Rigil Lite or Rigil Lite 32 GB — what's the difference?
It comes down to what you're scanning. The only differences are RAM and storage: 32 GB vs. 24 GB, and 1 TB SSD vs. 512 GB. The scan head, laser, infrared, display, batteries, and housing are all identical. Go for the 32 GB if you're scanning full vehicles or storing a large number of scans on the device itself; stick with the standard for handheld-sized objects.
Does it work without a computer?
Yes. It scans, processes, measures, and exports completely on its own, thanks to its 8-core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB SSD. If you ever need more processing power, just connect it to your PC via Wi-Fi 6 or USB-C — and with U-Drive mode, your computer recognizes it as a flash drive so you can copy models directly.
Does it work with Mac?
Yes, though you don't need a computer at all to scan. For tethered use, SHINING 3D recommends a Mac with M1 Max or Ultra, M2 Max or Ultra, M3 Pro or higher, M4 Pro or Max, or M5 — with 24 GB of RAM and macOS Tahoe 26.2. On Windows, the requirements are an i7-13700H, an RTX 3060 Laptop GPU with 8 GB VRAM, and 64 GB of RAM.
Does it need scanning spray for black or shiny surfaces?
No, according to SHINING 3D: it has a dedicated preset for reflective surfaces that handles black and glossy objects without spray, and the blue laser mode is the right tool for those situations. Mirror-finish chrome is challenging for any scanner, so take it slow and use markers if needed.
How accurate is the Rigil Lite 32 GB?
SHINING 3D doesn't publish a specific accuracy figure for the Rigil Lite — in either version — only noting that it falls slightly below the EinScan Rigil. What they do specify is resolution: down to 0.05 mm in laser mode and 0.2 mm in infrared mode. The extra RAM speeds up processing; it doesn't affect scan accuracy.
Can I scan people?
Yes — use infrared mode, which is eye-safe. It's ideal for full-body scans, busts, and custom cosplay parts, and with 1 TB of onboard storage you can save plenty of scan sessions directly on the device. The laser is Class II, so keep it for objects only and never point it at anyone's face.
Can I scan objects and then 3D print them?
Absolutely. It exports in STL and 3MF — compatible with any slicer — as well as OBJ, PLY, ASC, and LAS. You can transfer files via U-Drive, Wi-Fi, or the SHINING 3D cloud. If a part needs to fit with another piece, run the mesh through CAD before printing in resin or filament.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 3 hours, according to SHINING 3D. It runs on two swappable 21700 batteries (3.6 V / 5500 mAh) with 60 W PD 3.0 fast charging, so you can hot-swap batteries and keep scanning without stopping. Total weight with batteries installed is 870 g — the same as the standard version.
What's in the box?
Scanner, battery, charging dock with cable, carrying case, calibration board, universal stand, power adapter, USB Type-C cable, marker removal tool, 3 mm and 6 mm reflective markers, tempered glass screen protector, and a cleaning cloth. Box contents are identical to the standard version.
