HeyGears: resin 3D printers, resins and spare parts

HeyGears makes LCD resin 3D printers, the UltraCraft Reflex series, and everything that goes with them: UltraPrint resins with ready-tuned profiles, the Blueprint software, the Pulsing Release Module that peels each layer off with less force, the UltraCraft Wash and the UltraCraft Cure for washing and curing, and genuine spare parts for every model.

We sell all three printers in the current range: the Reflex RS Turbo at 405 nm for miniatures and fine detail, the Reflex Turbo at 385 nm for technical resins and the Reflex 2 Pro at 385 nm for batch production. Below we explain how it all fits together, which resin goes in which machine and when you need the pulsing module.

What HeyGears is and why it works differently

HeyGears doesn't just sell you a printer and leave it there. It sells a closed system: the printer, the resin, that resin's print profile in the software, and the wash and cure machines. You pick the resin in Blueprint, the machine applies its settings and you never touch an exposure time.

The idea is that the part comes out right first time, and the tenth comes out the same as the first. That's why their printers level themselves, top up resin on their own and stop if they detect debris in the tank. It's a brand built for workshops, engineering, jewellery and makers who print every day, not for tinkering.

The trade-off is that UltraPrint resins are formulated for the Reflex printers. They're not generic resins for any printer.

The Reflex range: 405 nm or 385 nm

This is the first thing to get clear. The Reflex RS Turbo works at 405 nm, like most LCD printers on the market. It has a 10.3" 8K Amber Screen, a 29.7 μm pixel and a 222 × 122 × 228 mm build volume. It's the one for miniatures, figures and fine detail.

The Reflex Turbo and the Reflex 2 Pro work at 385 nm. HeyGears says that light cures 1.5 times more than 405 nm, and that's what lets them run technical resins: polycarbonate-like, elastic, high-temperature, clear and castable. The Turbo is a desktop machine (192 × 121 × 220 mm) with a heated resin tray. The 2 Pro is the big one: 230 × 144 × 350 mm, a 1,032-zone OptiZone light source and a heated scraper.

You'll find the full comparison, and which one to choose, in HeyGears resin 3D printers.

Blueprint: the software that ties it all together

Blueprint Studio runs on Windows and macOS. It orients and arranges parts, generates supports, repairs broken meshes and slices using each resin's profile. It also lets you send jobs and check on a print from your computer or phone. The Reflex 2 Pro can also be paired with the Blueprint Go app (Android and iOS).

If you want to use resins from other brands, the RS Turbo and Reflex Turbo have Open Material mode: you select "Open Material" and set the exposure, light intensity and dimensional compensation yourself. It's meant for experienced users. HeyGears doesn't list it for the Reflex 2 Pro, so if that's what you need, ask us first.

The HeyGears Wash and Cure also get each resin's settings from Blueprint, so you run the whole workflow from one place.

Pulsing Release Module: what it is and when you need it

It's a module that connects to the printer and inflates and deflates the tank film on every layer. That way the part peels off with around 50 % less force, which means fewer supports and fewer support marks. It always works with its own Pulsing Release tank.

On the Reflex Turbo and Reflex 2 Pro it's required for four resins: PAC10 castable, PAE10 elastic, PAU20 tooling and PAH270 high-temperature. With the rest it's optional. It doesn't work with water-washable resins, and HeyGears doesn't recommend it for walls 3 mm thick or less.

Each family has its own version: the kit for Reflex and Reflex Turbo, the kit for Reflex RS and RS Turbo and the Pulsing Release Module 2 kit for the Reflex 2 and 2 Pro. None of the printers come with it as standard.

Washing, curing and air: UltraCraft Wash, Cure and GreenPrint

The UltraCraft Wash washes by vibration in 2 to 4 minutes using ethanol at 95 % or stronger. It comes with two boxes with a valve: the alcohol passes from one to the other and gets reused. Its usable volume is 198 × 123 × 150 mm, so the Reflex 2 build plate and larger parts won't fit.

The UltraCraft Cure cures with two wavelengths at once, 365 nm for the surface and 405 nm for the inside, heats up to 80 °C and has a turntable. The chamber is 198 × 124 × 220 mm, so very tall parts from the Reflex 2 Pro won't fit in one piece.

The UltraCraft GreenPrint is a purifier that breaks down resin and alcohol fumes by photocatalysis, with no carbon filters. HeyGears quotes 92 % less TVOC in 25 minutes in a 10 m² room. On the Reflex 2 Pro it can be connected straight to the chamber with a duct. If you'd rather use another machine, there are more options in wash and cure machines.

UltraPrint resins and spare parts

UltraPrint resins are grouped into families: Modeling, Production, Tooling, Molding, Design and Casting. They're all for HeyGears Reflex printers. Some run on the 385 nm machines and on the 405 nm RS; others only on the 385 nm ones. None of them is validated on LCD printers from other brands such as Elegoo, Anycubic or Phrozen. It's all there, with the compatibility table, in HeyGears resins. If your printer is another brand, have a look at our 405 nm resins.

Spare parts work the same way: each Reflex family has its own screen, tank and build plate, and they're not interchangeable. Screens, standard and Pulsing Release tanks, build plates and the heated scraper are all in HeyGears spare parts.

HeyGears: frequently asked questions

Will HeyGears resins work in my Elegoo or Anycubic?

No. UltraPrint resins are formulated and validated for HeyGears Reflex printers, with locked profiles in Blueprint. Many of them are 385 nm only. For printers from other brands, have a look at our 405 nm resins.

Can I use other brands' resins in a HeyGears printer?

On the Reflex RS Turbo and Reflex Turbo, yes, using Blueprint's Open Material mode and setting the exposure yourself. It's meant for experienced users. HeyGears doesn't list that mode for the Reflex 2 Pro.

Which HeyGears printer should I buy?

For miniatures and figures, the Reflex RS Turbo (405 nm, 29.7 μm pixel). For technical resins on a desktop-sized machine, the Reflex Turbo. For tall parts or batch production, the Reflex 2 Pro.

What is the HeyGears Pulsing Release Module?

A module that inflates and deflates the tank film on every layer, so the part peels away with around 50 % less force. It cuts down on supports and is required for PAC10, PAE10, PAU20 and PAH270.

What software do HeyGears printers use?

HeyGears Blueprint Studio, for Windows and macOS. It prepares your parts, applies each resin's profile and lets you keep an eye on prints remotely. The Reflex 2 Pro also works with the Blueprint Go app.

Do I need the HeyGears Wash and Cure?

Not necessarily. You can wash and cure with other machines by following each resin's guide. The advantage of the Wash and Cure is that they get the settings for each HeyGears resin straight from Blueprint.

What do you wash parts with in the UltraCraft Wash?

Ethanol at 95 % or stronger. The alcohol drains from one box into the other and gets reused. The water-washable PAWW20 resin is cleaned with water, and HeyGears doesn't include it on the Wash's list.

Do HeyGears spare parts fit any Reflex?

No. There are three families (Reflex and Reflex Turbo, Reflex RS and RS Turbo, and Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro), and each one has its own screen, tank and build plate.

Which languages is the HeyGears printer menu available in?

According to HeyGears' spec sheets, the RS Turbo and Reflex Turbo screens are in English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, and the Reflex 2 Pro is in English and Simplified Chinese.

Where are HeyGears products shipped from?

We ship them from the official HeyGears distributor in Europe.
