HeyGears Reflex Spare Parts

Genuine HeyGears spare parts for Reflex printers: Amber LCD screens, standard and Pulsing Release resin tanks, stainless steel build plates, the heated scraper for the Reflex 2 and the Pulsing Release Module kits.

The first thing is to know which family your printer belongs to, because parts are not interchangeable between the Reflex, Reflex RS and Reflex 2. Below you will find the compatibility table, when to replace each part and how to do it.

First, identify your Reflex family

HeyGears has three families and each one uses its own parts. Reflex and Reflex Turbo share the 9.25" screen, tanks and build plate. Reflex RS and RS Turbo share the 10.3" screen and tanks. Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro share the 10.7" screen, tanks, build plate and scraper.

A Reflex 2 screen won't fit a Reflex Turbo, and an RS tank won't work on a Reflex. The same goes for the Pulsing Release Module: the Reflex and the RS use the first-generation module, each with its own tank, and the Reflex 2 uses Module 2.

If you don't have a printer yet, take a look at the HeyGears printers. And if you're after a part you can't see here, ask us.

LCD screens

For the Reflex and Reflex Turbo, the Amber screen for Reflex: on the Turbo it's the factory screen, and on the original Reflex it's an upgrade, with 22 % more contrast and 2.5 times the lifespan. It comes with the tempered glass protector already fitted and two strips of tape. HeyGears warns that on the Reflex you need its LED calibration tool to replace it: if you don't have one, ask us first.

For the Reflex RS and RS Turbo, the Amber screen for Reflex RS, with 566:1 contrast and a lifespan of over 1 million layers according to HeyGears. After the swap, the RS reads the new screen's calibration data via NFC and adjusts itself.

For the Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro, the 10.7" LCD screen for the Reflex 2 series, with anti-scratch film and the tape already applied. It's secured with six screws using a T-handle wrench. When should you replace it? If it's cracked, scratched or leaves areas uncured. HeyGears suggests laying a sheet of white paper on top and running Tray Cleaning: if you see dark areas, lines or patches, it's time to check it.

Tanks: standard or Pulsing Release

The standard tank is for printing without the pulsing module. There's one for the Reflex and Reflex Turbo, compatible with their automatic heating, and one for the Reflex 2 and 2 Pro. They work with every resin that doesn't require the module, water-washable ones included. A second tank lets you keep one per resin, so you don't have to empty it every time you switch material.

The Pulsing Release tank is the one the module needs to work. There's one for the Reflex and Reflex Turbo, one for the Reflex 2 and 2 Pro and the heated Pulsing Release tank for the RS and RS Turbo. That last one heats the resin from 10 to 22 °C in about 20 minutes and, without the module, works as a regular heated tank: on the RS it's the only way to heat the resin.

The film and the tank don't last the same time. HeyGears sells the films separately, so you only replace the whole tank if the frame gets damaged. The Reflex counts layers and warns you when the film is reaching the end of its life.

Pulsing Release Module: kits and standalone module

The module inflates and deflates the tank film on every layer and cuts the peel force by around 50 %, so you need fewer supports. On the 385 nm Reflex printers it's required for PAC10, PAE10, PAU20 and PAH270. None of the printers come with it as standard.

For the Reflex and Reflex Turbo, the Pulsing Release Module kit for Reflex, with module and tank. For the Reflex RS and RS Turbo, the kit for Reflex RS, with module and heated tank: on the RS it's optional and works with PARP10, PAS10, PAP10, PAWR10, PAF10 and PAU11.

For the Reflex 2 and 2 Pro, the Pulsing Release Module 2 kit, or Module 2 without tank if you already have the Reflex 2 Pulsing Release tank. The module on its own doesn't work with the standard tank. Which resins need it is covered in HeyGears resins.

Build plates and heated scraper

The build plates are 304 stainless steel and perforated so the resin drains off. There's one for the Reflex and Reflex Turbo and the perforated plate for the Reflex 2 and 2 Pro. A second build plate lets you start the next job while you remove the parts from the first. The build plate stays the same whether you use the standard or the Pulsing Release tank.

With a perforated plate, pay attention to the raft: at least 10 × 10 mm, no smaller than the part's cross-section and more than 1 mm thick. That way Blueprint won't put supports over a hole.

The heated scraper is for the Reflex 2 series. It heats and stirs the resin from 10 to 22 °C in 6 minutes and holds it within ±1 °C. The Reflex 2 Pro comes with it as standard, so for that one it's a spare. On the Reflex 2, which comes with the standard scraper, it's the upgrade you want if your workshop is cold or you use thick resins like PAU20.

Maintenance to make your parts last

Most torn films come from a bit of cured resin that the build plate crushes on its way down. Check the tank before and after every print. To remove debris, use the Resin Tank Cleaning function and the debris tool. Don't pull cured resin off with your fingers.

Clean the tank, screen and build plate with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, wiping in one direction. Before fitting the tank, check there's nothing on the screen. HeyGears recommends printing at 20 to 25 °C with humidity below 50 %: cold resin flows worse and causes more failed prints.

If you print in a closed room, the UltraCraft GreenPrint purifier cuts down resin and alcohol fumes. For printers from other brands, there are films in FEP, nFEP and ACF.

HeyGears spare parts: frequently asked questions

Do parts from one Reflex fit another?

Only within the same family. The Reflex and Reflex Turbo share parts, so do the Reflex RS and RS Turbo, and so do the Reflex 2 and Reflex 2 Pro. Screens, tanks and build plates aren't interchangeable between families.

How do I know if I need to replace the screen?

If it's cracked, scratched or leaves areas uncured. HeyGears suggests laying a sheet of white paper on top and running Tray Cleaning, which projects an image across the whole screen. If you see dark areas, lines or patches, it's time to check it.

What's the difference between the standard tank and the Pulsing Release tank?

The standard tank is for printing without the pulsing module. The Pulsing Release tank is the one the Pulsing Release Module needs to work. For water-washable resins, always use the standard tank.

Do I have to replace the whole tank if the film tears?

No. HeyGears sells the films separately. You only replace the whole tank if the frame is damaged or if you want one tank per resin.

Does the Pulsing Release Module 2 work without its tank?

No. It needs the Reflex 2 series Pulsing Release tank. If you don't have one, order the Pulsing Release Module 2 kit, which includes both.

How do I heat the resin on a Reflex RS?

With the heated Pulsing Release tank for the RS, which brings the resin from 10 to 22 °C in about 20 minutes. It also works without the module, as a regular heated tank.

Do I need the heated scraper on the Reflex 2 Pro?

No, it comes with one as standard. You'd only need it as a replacement. On the Reflex 2, which comes with the standard scraper, it's an upgrade worth having if your workshop is cold or you use thick resins.

Why would I want a second build plate?

For batch work: while you remove and clean the parts from one, the other is already printing. It's also a spare in case yours gets bent or damaged.

Do I need to calibrate after replacing the screen?

On the RS, the printer reads the new screen's data via NFC and adjusts itself. On the Reflex, HeyGears says you need its LED calibration tool. If you don't have it, ask us before ordering the screen.

How do I stop the tank film from tearing?

Check the tank before and after every print, remove debris with the Resin Tank Cleaning function and the tool that comes with the printer, and never pull cured resin off with your fingers.
